Company History:
Marine & Agro is affiliated with Kendag Ltd. in Nairobi. The Company's Board of Directors has more than 25 years of experience in the Nile Perch business. They started the first fish processing operation in Kenya, and expanded into Uganda in 1992, when they built Marine & Agro on the shores of Lake Victoria. The factory was commissioned in May 1995 with initial installed capacity to produce five tons of Nile Perch products per day to export to the Far East.
Marine & Agro worked from the outset to develop a strict quality management system and standardize processing conditions. The company was certified in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) in 1996. This certification is reviewed regularly to ensure that products continue to meet the highest safety and international quality standards. Marine & Agro is currently establishing an ISO 9001 - 2000 Quality Management System and expects to be certified by January 2003.
The company began exporting to the European Union in 1996. Marine & Agro's success in the Nile Perch market continues to grow, and it now exports to every part of the world.

Based on its success in Uganda, Kendag Ltd. has expanded its fish processing operations to Tanzania. The group operates six fish processing plants on Lake Victoria: in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
